Biography

Mr. Sackett graduated from the University of Utah in 2004 with degrees in Communications and Spanish. He attended Tulane University Law School, in New Orleans, Louisiana. His law school attendance was interrupted by Hurricane Katrina, and he was able to assist with recovery efforts in its aftermath. He obtained his J.D. from Tulane in 2007. He has been a member of the Utah State Bar since 2007, and currently sits on its Character and Fitness Committee. Before joining Scalley Reading, Mr. Sackett practiced for 16 years in a boutique litigation firm, as well as in one of the country’s largest law firms. His practice is primarily devoted to litigation including appellate litigation, focusing on commercial disputes, construction disputes, business and partnership disputes, insurance defense, and real property disputes. He has appeared before the Utah Supreme Court, having participated in obtaining a successful ruling for his client and has been involved in broad multi-district litigations in federal court. He also has significant experience in both commercial and residential property tax appeals.

Mr. Sackett has also volunteered as a youth sports coach and is currently the head varsity baseball coach for a local high school. He also serves on the Board of Directors for a local nonprofit dedicated to providing disabled youth with outdoor opportunities.
